SPEL

The SPEL (Solution Pack for Experimental Laboratories) software package can handle most of the measuring, recording and analyzing tasks that can arise in a physiological or pharmacological laboratory. It offers on-screen functions allowing to observe 8 parallel primary channels and as many derived signals simultaneously as you wish, without loosing precision, accuracy and display quality.

The SPEL package is actually two-in-one. The Haemosys part is used to record cardiovascular, respiratory, gastro-intestinal and/or temperature variables as well as extracellular electrical signals, such as ECG. Each channel can be partitioned into primary and derivative fields. Based on the selected main pulsatoric signal the system can automatically detect heart cycles in real-time, which forms the base of any subsequent measurements and parameter calculations. A special ECG modul has also been implemented. One of the unique features of the system is the powerful off-line anaysis.

derivative signals of a haemodynamical experiment.

The Isosys part can be used to work with a set of independent channels to record activity of up to 8 isolated organs independently. By means of a special force sensor the isolated organ is hanged up in a tissue bath. In response to the dosage of certain compounds the isolated organ provides series of contractions and relaxations. Isosys measures the exerting forces and their time dependence during these series. The system supports cumulative and non-cumulative relaxation and contraction measuring configurations. A special algorithm is used to handle spontaneous contractions. Besides the primary signals the system also generates dose-response curves in real-time. Isosys also provides powerful off-line analysis.

SPEL has been developed in cooperation with Experimetria Ltd. Our company has provided the complete system specification and the development and programming of the measuring algorithms.
